SILK CARE

We choose silk because it is the essence of femmininity. Natural on the skin, fluid in movement, and timeless in its beauty.

Silk is a precious fiber: light, soft, and elegant. Archivio silk garments are designed to last over time, maintaining their quality and charm. Taking care of them properly is a gesture of respect for the fabric and for those who wear it.

SUSTAINABLE SILK

Change the way you shop:
 Buy less, care more.

Choosing Archivio silk means making a conscious and sustainable choice:

• Silk farms contribute to the preservation of ecosystems, enhancing biodiversity without the use of fertilizers or pesticides.

• Silk processing has minimal environmental impact, maintaining the purity of the fiber throughout every stage.

• Unlike synthetic fibers, silk does not release microplastics into the environment.

• It is a 100% recyclable and reusable material.

HOW TO CARE FOR IT

After each wear, air out your garment to keep it fresh for longer.

Silk is a natural fiber composed of proteins: it is resistant to dirt but sensitive to aggressive detergents. If properly aired and promptly treated in case of stains, it requires very few washes throughout the year. The best way to preserve silk is through steaming, which relaxes the fibers, removes odors, and refreshes the fabric without stressing it.

Store it with care: hang your garments on padded hangers and protect them properly.
Even more structured pieces, such as Archivio's long blazers, should be stored carefully to maintain their silhouette.
Silk trousers should be hung with clips from the bottom hem to prevent unwanted marks on the fabric.

HOW TO WASH

To maintain the fabric’s luster and softness, we recommend dry cleaning. If necessary, for drying, always hang silk in the shade, avoiding direct sunlight.

Below, you will find detailed guidelines for both dry cleaning and hand washing.

Useful tips for washing and maintaining silk:

• Do not use bleach.

• Do not expose silk to direct, intense sunlight.

• Do not use water to iron silk.

• Do not spray the silk with perfume or deodorant.

• Do not use water to remove stains.

• Silk should always be ironed inside out.

• Silk can be dry-cleaned and hand-washed.

DRY CLEAN WASHING INSTRUCTIONS

We recommend the following Dry Clean Washing instructions for Archivio silk products.

COOL IRON

COOL IRON 110°

A dot indicates that the garment can be ironed at a low temperature, not exceeding 110 degrees. Silk should always be ironed inside out and still slightly damp. Always adjust the iron. Silk should never be ironed at high temperatures! It is good practice to put a cotton cloth between the garment and the iron plate. This prevents the steam from making stains or halos and protects the silk from excessive heat that could ruin it.

DRY FLAT IN SHADE

DRY FLAT IN SHADE

A square with a horizontal line and two cross lines: dry the garment horizontally in the shade. Always dry the silk on a horizontal surface to ensure it does not deform.

DO NOT BLEACH

DO NOT BLEACH

A triangle crossed out with an X means do not bleach. In this case you should not use any kind of bleach on the garment.

DO NOT TUMBLE DRY

DO NOT TUMBLE DRY

Silk is very delicate and the high temperatures of the tumble dryer can shrink or damage your silks.

HAND WASHING CLEAN INSTRUCTIONS

We recommend the following Hand Clean Washing instructions for Archivio silk products.

HAND WASHING

HAND WASHING

● This symbol indicates hand washing.

● For good hand washing, it is recommended to soak the silk in warm water for 5 minutes; use a specific detergent for silk or mild soap. If the fabric is dyed, it should be rinsed quickly and if a little white vinegar is added to the water, the colours will be kept vibrant.

● If the garment is made of white silk, it is advisable to add a little hydrogen peroxide when rinsing, which will bleach the fabric without damaging it.

● Shake carefully without twisting the fabric and then rinse well using cold water. Then wrap the silk in a dry towel to remove the remaining water (in the case of dark-coloured or printed silk, use a double layer of towels). Unroll the towel and stretch slightly at the corners.
